Canyon Country is a community in Los Angeles County with a population of 59,530. In 1987, it was one of four communities (along with Valencia, Newhall, and Saugus) that merged to create the city of Santa Clarita, California. It is home to the Placerita Canyon Nature Center which is the site of the historic "Oak of the Golden Dream," California's original gold discovery in 1842.
